The sensor SWF5.1 is designed to control the presence of water and other water solutions that are non-aggressive to the elements of a sensor cable in a controlled zone. Design specifications of a sensor cable allow to install a sensor on different types of managed objects, such as tubes, flat surfaces (including metal ones). Because of a lack of contract potentials on sensitive elements, a sensor cable can be immersed in the fluid for a long time without damaging sensitive elements. When using a water leakage sensor SWF 5.1 with the devices from NetPing company, a customer receives a ready system, which can be used in all activities, where the presence of water and non-aggressive water solutions is crucial for proper functioning of the equipment and living, such as housing, air conditioning and ventilation systems, basements, Data Processing Centers (DPC), boilers, water supply and heating systems for houses and cottages (bathrooms, kitchens, heating batteries), glass facades of buildings, stock storages, etc. Thanks to having a sensor cable of a big length, a sensor can simultaneously control a fluid leakage on the vast area. A water leakage sensor SWF 5.1 together with devices of NetPing company allows to react to leakages adequately by informing via E-mail, SMS (in devices with a built-in GSM modem) and SNMP Trap.
Necessary Elements for Plugging a Water Leak Detection SWF 5.1
To plug a water leakage sensor SWF 5.1, there is a need to have:
- Any device:
- A water leakage sensor SWF5.1
- A converter PW3-35-3 that allows to increase the voltage from NetPing devices to the value of 24V, which is necessary to power a leakage sensor SWF 5.1.
- Wires for plugging a power supply of a leakage sensor SWF 5.1 and a converter PW3-35-3

A maximal length of a power wire for connecting a converter PW3-35-3 to NetPing devices must not exceed 50m, a cross-section must be 0,4mm2 or more. A maximal length of a power wire of a water leakage sensor SWF 5.1, for conencting to a converter PW3-35-3 must not exceed 50m, a cross-section must be 0,4mm2 or more.
A process of configuring a water leak sensor SWF5.1 in a web interface of a NetPing device
To configure a water leakage sensor SWF5.1, there is a need to do the following:
1. Go to the page "DISCRETE IO" of a web interface of a NetPing device.
2. As a value of a paramater "Memo", set a description of a water leakage sensor WF5.1. For example, IO 1 - "Leakage sensor - ALARM", IO 2 - "Leakage sensor - BREAK".
3. As a value of a parameter "IO Mode", set the value "Input".
4. A configuration of a parameter "Filter out short noise pulses (20-10 000ms)" can be left default. A more detailed information about configuring this parameter may be found on the link For What the Filter of Short Noise Pulses Is Necessary in the Settings of an Input-Output Line?
5. A value of a parameter "Logic Level" for an IO1 line if there is no flooding will be set to '1'. If there is flooding, then it will be set to '0'. A value of a parameter "Current logic level" for an IO2 line when a sensor cable is not broken, will be set to '1'. When a sensor cable is broken, it will be set to '0'.
6. To configure a parameter "Logic level description" for an IO1 line, click the button "Setup", a parameter "Notifications when a logic level is changed" for "IO 1".
In the window that opens, set the value that will be displayed as the value of the logic level "1". For example, "No Leakage".
As a value of a parameter "Logic 0", set the value that will be displayed when a value of a logic level is "0", for example, "Leakage" and click the button "Save".
A parameter "Logic Level Description" for an IO2 line is configured the same as the one for an IO1 line.
7. To configure a parameter "Notification on Logic Level change" for an IO1 line, there is a need to click the button "Setup", a parameter "Notifications when a logic level is changed" for "IO 1".
In the window that opens, set necessary notifications when a logic level for an IO1 line is changed for the next types: Log, Syslog, E-mail SMS (in devices with a built-in GSM modem) and SNMP Trap, and click the button "Save".
A parameter "Notifications when a logic level is changed" for an IO2 line is configured the same as the one for an IO1 line.
8. A value of parameters for "Output Logic Level" and "Single Pulse Generation" is not configured for the water leakage sensor SWF5.1.
Result
Notification type | Notification description | Sensor status | Displayed result in a web interface of a NetPing device |
---|---|---|---|
«ALARM» | Flooding | «ALARM» LED glows continiously | A value of a parameter "Current logic level" for "IO 1" is changed from the value "1" to the value "0" |
«BREAK» | A sensor cable is broken | «ALARM» LED blinks as follows: 2 short flashes, then a long pause. | A value of a parameter "Current logic level" for "IO 2" is changed from the value "1" to the value "0" |
In general, an operation principle of a configured monitoring system for a water leakage looks like the following. When there is flooding, an «ALARM» LED on a water leakage sensor starts glowing continuously, and a signal is sent to a NetPing device, and a logic level in a Web interface in the tab "DISCRETE IO" "IO 1" is changed from the value "1" to the value "0". Then notifications are sent according to previously specified configurations of the parameter "Notifications when a logic level is changed". When a sensor cable is broken, an «ALARM» LED on a water leakage sensor starts blinking in the next order: 2 short flashes and a long pause, and a signal is sent to a NetPing device, and a logic level in a Web interface in the tab "DISCRETE IO" "IO 2" is changed from the value "1" to the value "0". Then, notifications are sent according to previous configurations of the parameter "Notifications when a logic level is changed".
