Why Certain Pages of a Web Interface Will not Open?

Why so?

If a main page, a page "Settings" and a page "Firmware" open normally, but other pages are unavailable, then a probable reason is incorrectly ended last software update. A software update is performed in 2 steps: first, software of a device is updated, then a device will reboot. Afterwards, firmware resources are updated, including a content of web pages. When the first step of software is completed and the second step is not, only several web interface pages remain active. They allow to retry software update process.

What Are MIB Files?

«... Management Information Base (MIB) is a virtual database, which is used to manage objects in a communication network. The most frequently, this notion is related to Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). At the same time, it is used in a wider sense meaning a network management model OSI/ISO. Despite the fact a term MIB is not designed to denote all available information about an object, it is also often used to mark a particular subset, which can be more correctly named the MIB module.

Objects in the MIB, according to RFC 2578, are determined by a subset "Structure of Management Information Version 2 (SMIv2)" of the ASN.1 standard. The parsing software is called the MIB compiler.

A database has got a hierarchical (tree) structure. It is possible to address records using object identifiers OID. MIB bases are discussed in RFC documentation, particularly RFC 1155 and corresponding RFC 1213 and RFC 1157 (derived from the material named «Management Information Base» from Wikipedia) …»

How to Implement «Alarm Buttons» Using NetPing Devices?

NetPing devices for monitoring server rooms have one more remarkable feature – it will allow to organize a notification system on dangerous situations or emergencies at objects. Such systems are sometimes used at businesses for mass notification of staff or persons in charge, who must in turn take actions to evacuate people or eliminate adverse effects.

In this article an example of implementing «alarm buttons», i.e. a notification system, using NetPing devices will be regarded.

Three «alarm buttons» will be used in a notification system at the objects: №1, №2, №3. When clicking any of these buttons a siren alarm will trigger, which is installed at the object №4. In addition, there is one more button «Cancel» at the object №4, when clicking it a siren alarm is switched off.

How to Generate a Pulse on an IO Line When a Sensor of a Device Triggers?

NetPing devices have built-in IO lines (input-output lines). They can be used both in the «input» mode, and the «output» mode or a «logic output» for controlling external devices. Examples of using IO lines in the mode «output»/«logic output» are as follows:

  • remote rebooting of servers, which is an imitation of pushing a «Reset» button;
  • remote controlling of an alarm, lighting, a ventilator;
  • controlling electric lock, and electric gate at a remote site;
  • controlling the elements of a «smart home»: watering plants, opening / closing blinds, water pump, boiler, electric heaters, etc.;
  • remote controlling of an energy device (diesel generator, gasoline generator)

Government Standards for Location of Sensors in the Data Center

A location of humidity and temperature sensors is not regulated by the GOST (governmental standards).

The only recommendation about sensors occurs in CH512-78, and it is formulated the next way: "It is recommended to provide at least two temperature sensors that will allow to ensure an additional control over temperature conditions in a server room. One sensor is output to a console of a dispatcher of building engineering systems while the second sensor must be installed at the console of computer information network administrators.

Meanwhile, a proper location of temperature sensors is crucially important for a correct work of conditioning systems.

Thermostat with the Emergency Mode (Periodic Switching a Heater On) When a Temperature Sensor Fails with SMS-Notification

A logic firmware module of NetPing devices is designed for a simple automation and may perform such tasks as maintaining micro climate, controlling automatic switching on/off the backup equipment and many other. Logic works on the basis of rules programmed by a user through a web interface. In the new firmware DKSF 54.3.2 for a NetPing 4/PWR-220 v4/SMS power distribution unit, a new module "Logic" was developed with the extended functionality. In the nearest time, the old module "Logic" will be replaced by the new module in all other devices.

Task: There is a need to ensure the temperature is in the range 10°C - 20°C indoors. To do this, there is a need to switch a heater on when the temperature drops below 10°C and switch it off at its rising more than 20°C. When a temperature sensor fails, there is a need to send an SMS-notification about the failure and activate an emergency mode without controlling temperature with periodic switching on a heater for 15 minutes every hour. When the normal operation of a temperature sensor is restored, there is a need to switch to a regular mode.

What Is the Difference Between Clock Synchronization Protocols NTP and SNTP?

It is difficult to imagine a modern world without accurate timing. In many spheres of life, there is a need to have a very accurate clock, and often the accuracy must be significantly higher than the one of clocks used by people in everyday life. For example, requirements for the clock accuracy in flight control systems, spacecraft control systems, or military systems are the highest. Also, clocks of high accuracy are necessary for systems with simpler functions, such as billing systems and charging systems of cell phone operators and Internet providers, as well as the systems of bank transactions, in trading systems, manufacturing, and scientific complexes. In local networks, user authentication protocol Kerberos also utilizes comparing the clock of a controller domain with the clock of users' workstations. In computer networks, a synchronization is usually performed with time servers using an NTP protocol or its simplified variety called SNTP. In this article, we will examine peculiarities, differences, and examples of using these protocols.
