If a main page, a page "Settings" and a page "Firmware" open normally, but other pages are unavailable, then a probable reason is incorrectly ended last software update. A software update is performed in 2 steps: first, software of a device is updated, then a device will reboot. Afterwards, firmware resources are updated, including a content of web pages. When the first step of software is completed and the second step is not, only several web interface pages remain active. They allow to retry software update process.
A remote sensor monitoring device UniPing server solution v4/SMS allows to organise an access monitoring system to a server room remotely on the basis of a motion sensor and a door opening sensor. What happens when the sensors are triggered: when a door is opened or a motion is indicated in a server room, a device UniPing server solution v4/SMS can instantly send SMS notifications to a technical staff. Thus, UniPing server solution v4/SMS provides additional security functions to server rooms and other rooms to prevent unauthorized access.
To make a NetPing device located on the LAN available via the Internet, there is a need to configure port forwarding on your router.
Port Forwarding is a technology allowing to access a network device in the internal LAN behind a router from the Internet using NAT technology. The access is made by redirecting traffic from an external address of the router to the address of a selected network device in a local network.
Syslog (System log) is standard for sending and registering notifications about events taking place in the system (i.e. creating logs), which is used in computer networks, working via an IP protocol. A term «Syslog» is used to name both a standard network protocol Syslog, and software (application, library), which sends/receives system notifications.
POE switch is a device, which is used to connect a power supply to several IP video cameras simultaneously and organised data transfer through a network. To create such a connection, a common twisted pair cable is used. POE switch recognizes supported devices automatically and provides their protection from short circuits and overloading.
TRASSIR software, which is developed by the Russian company Digital Security Systems Lab (DSSL), is a leader in the area of developing professional software for digital video surveillance systems. A possibility to integrate monitoring devices of a server room and NetPing remote power supply monitoring devices is implemented in TRASSIR software. In this case NetPing devices serve as executing devices and allow to increase a functionality of the system TRASSIR, as well as expand the applicability of the devices NetPing in different automated systems and video surveillance complexes.
In this article, connecting NetPing devices to TRASSIR software will be examined.
Certain NetPing devices have got a possibility to work with 1-Wire sensors, such as 1-Wire temperature sensor, (THS), 1-Wire humidity sensor, (HS) and others. In turn, this allows to plug and configure sensors quickly and easily. After all, it is only to insert a cable with an RJ-11 plug into 1W (RJ-12) jack of the NetPing device to plug a 1-Wire sensor in.
In this article, we will examine plugging 1-Wire sensors to NetPing devices directly as well as using splitters and 1-Wire extenders.
«... Management Information Base (MIB) is a virtual database, which is used to manage objects in a communication network. The most frequently, this notion is related to Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). At the same time, it is used in a wider sense meaning a network management model OSI/ISO. Despite the fact a term MIB is not designed to denote all available information about an object, it is also often used to mark a particular subset, which can be more correctly named the MIB module.
A database has got a hierarchical (tree) structure. It is possible to address records using object identifiers OID. MIB bases are discussed in RFC documentation, particularly RFC 1155 and corresponding RFC 1213 and RFC 1157 (derived from the material named «Management Information Base» from Wikipedia) …»
NetPing devices for monitoring server rooms have one more remarkable feature – it will allow to organize a notification system on dangerous situations or emergencies at objects. Such systems are sometimes used at businesses for mass notification of staff or persons in charge, who must in turn take actions to evacuate people or eliminate adverse effects.
In this article an example of implementing «alarm buttons», i.e. a notification system, using NetPing devices will be regarded.
Three «alarm buttons» will be used in a notification system at the objects: №1, №2, №3. When clicking any of these buttons a siren alarm will trigger, which is installed at the object №4. In addition, there is one more button «Cancel» at the object №4, when clicking it a siren alarm is switched off.
NetPing devices have built-in IO lines (input-output lines). They can be used both in the «input» mode, and the «output» mode or a «logic output» for controlling external devices. Examples of using IO lines in the mode «output»/«logic output» are as follows:
- remote rebooting of servers, which is an imitation of pushing a «Reset» button;
- remote controlling of an alarm, lighting, a ventilator;
- controlling electric lock, and electric gate at a remote site;
- controlling the elements of a «smart home»: watering plants, opening / closing blinds, water pump, boiler, electric heaters, etc.;
- remote controlling of an energy device (diesel generator, gasoline generator)
In the latest firmware versions, the functionality of saving and restoring a device configuration from a binary file was implemented for NetPing devices with the aim to simplify configuration cloning for a group of devices in the network. On default, this functionality is available on the page «SETUP» of a device web interface.
A location of humidity and temperature sensors is not regulated by the GOST (governmental standards).
The only recommendation about sensors occurs in CH512-78, and it is formulated the next way: "It is recommended to provide at least two temperature sensors that will allow to ensure an additional control over temperature conditions in a server room. One sensor is output to a console of a dispatcher of building engineering systems while the second sensor must be installed at the console of computer information network administrators.
Meanwhile, a proper location of temperature sensors is crucially important for a correct work of conditioning systems.
A logic software module of NetPing devices is designed for a simple automation and can perform such tasks as maintaining a micro climate, managing automatic switching on/ switching off the backup equipment and many more. The logic works on the basis of the rules that are programmed by a user through a web interface.
Task: When closing a door in a server room more than 20-40 times during 30 minutes, there is a need to lock an electric door lock and send an SMS notification to a group of system administrators.
The logic module of the firmware of NetPing devices is designed for a simple automation and can perform such tasks as maintaining micro climate, controlling automatic switching on/switching off the backup equipment and much more. A logic works on the basis of the rules programmed by the user via a web interface.
Task: Sometimes situations of unplanned deenergizing of a server room take place, for example, because of a power line failure. After eliminating failures, all server equipment should be switched on in a certain consequence, with the aim to ensure a correct start of corporate services in the network and decrease the load to the uninterruptible power supply sources for the time of switching the servers on.
A logic module of the firmware of NetPing devices is designed for a simple automation, and can perform such tasks as maintaining a micro-climate, controlling an automatic switching on/switching off backup equipment and many more. Logic works on the basis of the rules programmed by the user through a web interface. In the new firmware DKSF 54.3.2 for NetPing 4/PWR-220 v4/SMS power distribution unit, a new module "Logic" is implemented with additional features, which are powerful and flexible. In the nearest future, this module will be applied to other NetPing models.
Task: intermittent operation of the ventilation system with the switching on every hour for five minutes. This can be useful during a cold season and for minimizing power consumption and maximizing a lifetime of fans.
A logic firmware module of NetPing devices is designed for a simple automation and may perform such tasks as maintaining micro climate, controlling automatic switching on/off the backup equipment and many other. Logic works on the basis of rules programmed by a user through a web interface. In the new firmware DKSF 54.3.2 for a NetPing 4/PWR-220 v4/SMS power distribution unit, a new module "Logic" was developed with the extended functionality. In the nearest time, the old module "Logic" will be replaced by the new module in all other devices.
Task: There is a need to ensure the temperature is in the range 10°C - 20°C indoors. To do this, there is a need to switch a heater on when the temperature drops below 10°C and switch it off at its rising more than 20°C. When a temperature sensor fails, there is a need to send an SMS-notification about the failure and activate an emergency mode without controlling temperature with periodic switching on a heater for 15 minutes every hour. When the normal operation of a temperature sensor is restored, there is a need to switch to a regular mode.
