Ball electric valve GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE is designed to turn off water supply (heating) if there is a water leak. Ball electric valve consists of a ball valve and an electric drive for controlling a ball valve.

When using a ball electric valve GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE with devices from NetPing company together with water leakage sensors, a customer gets a ready system that can be used in all areas of life, where appearing of water and non-aggressive water solutions is critical for functioning of the equipment and living, such as housing and utilities, conditioning and ventilation systems, basements, Data Processing Centers (DPC), boiler rooms, water supply systems and heating systems for houses and cottages (bathrooms, kitchens, heating batteries), stock warehouses, etc. Our monitoring device together with a water leakage sensor combined with electric ball valve GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE will allow to react to appearing of water on the object in time by turning off water supply (heating) with following notifying of the emergency via E-mail, SMS (in NetPing devices with a built-in GSM modem) and SNMP Trap.

To plug an electric ball valve GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE, it is recommended to use any NetPing monitoring unit from the list:

Electric ball valve GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE is shipped with undetachable cable 1-meter long. A length of a cable can be extended with the use of sensor loop extenders RC-4 that are consequently connected one to another, or independently by using any wire with a section of more than 0,4 mm2. A maximum allowable cable length is 100 meters.

Problem Statement

If a heating battery in a server room leaks, there is a need to turn off a flow ofa heat-transfer fluid and send a notification to a technical staff via e-mail or SMS.

Let us examine two ways of solving the problem. The first one is the example of using UniPing server solution v4/SMS while the second one is the use of NetPing IO v2.

Solution on the Basis of UniPing server solution v4/SMS

Necessary equipment:

Let us think that a UniPing server solution v4/SMS monitoring unit is configured for the operation in your local network and for sending SMS and e-mail notifications. It is possible to know the settings of UniPing server solution v4/SMS from the documentation to a device.

A connection scheme of a ball electric drive GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE to UniPing server solution v4/SMS (this connection scheme works for UniPing server solution v4/SMS, UniPing server solution v3):

«GND» terminal is connected to a normally opened relay contact by an auxiliary wire (left terminal in a «Relay» terminal).

As a result, connecting a black wire with a blue wire (GND): closing a ball electric drive. Separating a black wire from a blue wire (GND): discovering an electric ball drive.

Scheme for connecting automatic ball valve GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE to UniPing server solution v4SMS

After we connected a ball electric drive GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE to a «Relay» terminal of a UniPing server solution v4/SMS monitoring unit, there is a need to configure relay parameters in a web interface UniPing server solution v4/SMS:

Afterwards, we go to the page "Relay" using a navigation menu under the heading of a web interface (1) and fill in the parameters for a Relay 1 (2):

Then, click the button «Setup» in the field «Notifications» (3):

UniPing server solution v4SMS Configuring Relay 1

In a windiw that opens, we can configure types of necessary notifications. When necessary changes are made, there is a need to click the button «Save».

Now, let us configure UniPing server solution v4/SMS to work with a water leak sensor. In this example, water leakage sensor is connected to an IO line 4. How to plug a water leakage sensor to UniPing server solution v4/SMS can be seen in a user guide.

Go to the page "Discrete IO" using a navigation menu under the heading of a web interface (1) and fill in parameters for an IO line 4 (2):

Then, click the button «Setup» in the field «Notification on Logic Level Change» (3):

UniPing server solution v4SMS configuring IO line 4

In a window that opens, we can configure types of necessary notifications and a description of a logic level on an IO line 4:

UniPing server solution v4SMS configuring notifications of IO line 4

When necessary changes are done, click the button «Save». On the page «Discerete IO» click «Apply changes» as well.

Then, configure logic rules for automatic controlling electric ball valve GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE using our monitoring unit UniPing server solution v4/SMS when a leakage sensor triggers.

Go to the page "Logic" using a navigation menu under the heading of a web-interface (1) and specify the first rule in the logic block (2):

  • If water sensor (IO 4) does not register a leak (logic level 0), there is a need to open GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE (switch off Relay 1) to supply water (heating).

Check the first checkbox and specify the rule as in the example below:

Then specify the second rule:

Check the second checkbox and specify the rule as in the example below:

UniPing server solution v4SMS configuring the second rule of logic

E-mail and SMS notifications about a water leak that took place and activating GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE have already been configured before when configuring notifications for Relay1 and IO line 4.

Solution on the Basis of NetPing IO v2

Necessary equipment:

Let us consider that a NetPing IO v2 monitoring unit is configured to operate in your local network and for sending e-mail notifications. It is possible to know the settings of NetPing IO v2 from the documentation of a device.

A connection scheme of electric ball valve GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE to a NetPing IO v2 monitoring unit using a power relay BM8070D:

Scheme of connecting an automatic ball valve GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE to NetPing IO v2

After the electric ball valve GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE is connected to the first IO line of a NetPing IO v2 monitoring unit using a power relay BM8070D, there is a need to configure parameters of an IO line 1 in a web interface of a NetPing IO v2 monitoring unit.

Go to the page "Discrete IO" using a navigation menu under the heading of a web interface (1) and fill in parameters for a line for IO 1 (2):

Then, click the button «Setup» in the field «Notification» (3):

NetPing IO v2 configuring input output lines

In a window that opens, we can configure types of necessary notifications and a description of a logic level of the IO Line 1:

NetPing IO v2 notifications for IO line 1

After necessary changes are done, click the button «Save».

Also on the same page of a web interface of NetPing IO v2 we will configure a water sensor that is connected to the IO line 2. It is possible to see the way to connect water sensor to NetPing IO v2 in a user guide.

Fill in parameters for an IO Line 2 (4):

Then, click the button «Setup» in the field «Notification» (5). In a window that opens, we can configure types of necessary notifications and a description of a logic level of the IO Line 2:

NetPing IO v2 notifications for an IO line 2

Then, configure logic rules for automatic control of the electric ball valve GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE using our NetPing IO v2 monitoring device when a leakage sensor triggers.

Go to the page "Logic" using a navigation menu under the heading of a web interface (1) and specify the first rule in the Logic block (2):

Check the first checkbox and specify a rule as in the example below:

NetPing IO v2 configuring the first rule of logic

Then, specify the second rule:

  • If a water sensor (IO 2) registers a leak (logic level 1), there is a need to switch on GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE (IO 1) and turn off the supply of water (heating).

Check the second checkbox and specify a rule as in the example below:

NetPing IO v2 configuring the second rule of logic

E-mail and SMS notifications about a water leak that happened and triggering of GIDROLOCK ULTIMATE have already been configured by us before when we configured notifications for IO lines 1 and 2.

Outcome

As a result of configurations described above, we will get a system that is able to stop water leakage independently and inform technical personnel about it using e-mail and SMS notifications (in devices with a built-in GSM modem).
